| Robert P. Chaloupka
Scottsbluff, Nebraska phone (308) 635-5000 fax (308) 635-8000 email rpc@chhsclaw.net Robert P. Chaloupka is a plaintiff's trial lawyer, focusing on the recovery of losses resulting from accidents of all types, defective products, professional negligence and wrongful business practices or acts. He graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1968. Thereafter he served our country for two years as a Captain in the United States Army Military Police Corps. Mr. Chaloupka begin his practice of law in 1970. During his practice he has tried well over 100 jury cases in courts of unlimited jurisdiction. He has defended and acquitted individuals charged with first-degree murder; obtained the first personal injury verdict in excess of $1,000,000.00 in the State of Nebraska in 1979, and has been lead counsel on many cases in which the verdict was in excess of $1 million. One such recent case was Betty Dossett v. First State Bank of Loomis, Nebraska, where Plaintiff was summarily fired from her job as a long time bank teller because she publicly spoke against the merging of school districts, one of which was a major customer of the bank. The case was one of first impression in the nation’s courts, and was tried on the theory that a private employer cannot conspire with a public entity to deprive a person of her rights of free speech. Ms. Dossett was awarded $1.5 million. The case is still in litigation. Typical clients are those who have suffered catastrophic losses, and are financially unable to take appropriate action. Mr. Chaloupka expects to help finance these claims on behalf of his clients, if needed and appropriate. Typical claims involve motor vehicle accidents; professional negligence; FELA; and defective products. He has served as the president of the Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys and on the Board of Governors of the American Trial Lawyers Association. In addition, he has served as the president of the Scotts Bluff County Bar Association and is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association. As a result of his success as an attorney he has been inducted into honorary organizations including the American College of Trial Attorneys and the International Society of Barristers and has been selected by his peers to be included as on of the Best Lawyers in America. (Woodward White, The Best Lawyers in America, 1987 to present.) |
